1 Timothy 5:4

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

This blessing is recited only on the first time the Hanukkah menorah is lit. Called the Shehechiyanu, it is an important blessing that thanks God for sustaining us and reminds us to appreciate the goodness in our lives.
English:
Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who has kept us alive, and has preserved us, and enabled us to reach this time.
Sepharidc/Modern Israeli:
Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech Ha-Olam, she-hekheyanu v-kiyamanu v-higgianu lazman hazeh.

"Hallejujah!" Earth replies

We three kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder Star.
O, star of wonder, star of might,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

Born a babe on Bethlehem's plain;
Gold we bring to crown Him again;
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign.

Frankincense to offer have I;
Incense owns a Deity nigh;
Prayer and praising, all men raising,
Worship Him, God on High.

Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom;
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Seal'd in the stone-cold tomb.

Glorious now behold Him arise,
King and God and sacrifice,
Heaven sings, "Hallelujah!"
"Hallejujah!" Earth replies.

Vindicated

A little book that always seems to sooth bad dreams (daughter's, not mine.  Although I should try it some time) had a devotion about vindication and it warned to be wary of smoke and mirrors.  I pray that I receive true deliverance and that my freedom from blame comes from the only true source; God our Father.

Also, more prayers for the sick.  I mentioned to my husband the other night that I really feel like I am loving every good and bad moment and not taking anything for granted.  Health almost seems like God's greatest blessing~

Bah Humbug

Alright fellow believers:  I've found the true meaning of Christmas.

Wait for it

CHRISTMAS IS THE PERFECT TIME TO SNEAK IN MESSAGES ABOUT CHRIST!

Tuesday, December 13

I listen to a lot of public radio (and I love a lot of liberals) and I didn't get a chance to go back and listen to that segment called the feminine divine yet but there was another great segment today that had spiritual aspects and its so fun to find that in unusual or unexpected places. Its also really uplifting...

The Feminine Divine

I don't have this on a player but just a link to my WPR station where you can find your version (podcast, download, whatever):
http://wpr.org/hereonearth/archive_111212k.cfm
REALLY spoke to me.  I'm going to listen to it again tomorrow when I have some downtime and can put on my headphones and really absorb the conversation.....

Sunday, December 11

Fear Factor

So, there are new commercials now for the old show, Fear Factor.  And I had always thought to myself, what's the big deal?  They know the producers can't possibly let them die.  So they just handle the uncomfortable or freaky situation for a few minutes knowing it's going to be over soon.......it's the same for life right?  God isn't going to let us die eternally.  We have eternal life in heaven.  So what's the big deal about handling the temporarily unhappy situations?

Saturday, December 10
