I like how Noah's father Lamech announced him, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed" Genesis 6:29
When I was thinking about Noah and his story (my daughter loooooooves her little people ark and it brought up a couple discussions this wknd actually) the idea that everyone was coupled up kind of struck a note. Seems like our creator really intended for us to be with a partner. And as I was thinking of this my little girl was throwing a tantrum in the back seat...and her really smart mom had clipped her pacifier into the car seat harness so she couldn't toss it...because I knew in her rage she would throw that binky but she wouldn't understand that it was a grave mistake...she wouldn't be happy after her fit without it...and maybe that's why God has made marriage such a sticking point ~ Maybe he understands that we would naively give up our husbands in a fit of whatever but that we'd regret it just as fast.
My dear first-born....I think that you have hit the nail on the head because we are such toddlers at times. I do believe that we would throw away our better halves in a fit. Often times, I see that second or third marriages work out not because the people are better suited for each other. But, because they work harder at marriage so that they don't have to be without. Marriage is truly a delicate dance, made easier with the help of God.
