The Lord, Not Idols

Isaiah 44:13
The carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker;
he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses.
He shapes it in the form of man, of man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.

1 comment:

  1. Shall I bow down to a block of wood?” Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say,
    “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?" (Is. 44)

    AND NOW FOR A QUICK WORD ABOUT ART:
    il·lu·sion   [ih-loo-zhuhn]
    noun
    1. something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality.

    "Representation"
    The RE-presentation of something.

    Any artist worth his or her salt knows what they're working with, and I've never seen a colleague of mine bow down to their own work. Of course what we make are "lies" - but sometimes "art is lies that tell the truth." (Picasso)
