To follow up on yesterday's post, here are examples of how I'm trying to use life strategies to better my spiritual outlook:
18 Minutes
Concept of fear then reward; I haven't read the complete chapter yet but the idea that fear gets our attention but can't be sustained but when followed up with the reward really seemed to apply to the Law and the Gospel! Getting that shot of eternal damnation is pretty convincing but really, we should reap the benefits of living our lives for Christ because what a peaceful existence... That also refers to Monday's post about finding a "center".
Also I've taken the author's concept of setting an alarm every hour so the day doesn't get away from you. Funny that I didn't intend to but I immediately found myself praying when that alarm went off! It was meant to be a reflective minute on if you were advancing a greater goal or just doing busy work to feel busy but it's turned into a conversation with God every hour. Soon though I need to focus on making it a full minute I think and master the distraction factor.
7 Habits
Pyramid of importance rather than urgency; I need to go back and re-read for the third time but putting God at the top of my pyramid is something I am committed to even if I still struggle to make this happen every day. I think its so very valid to look at every task and every situation through that lens.
